Air Barriers

When we have air leakage in a building, it is through cracks and holes. Some of the cracks and holes are very small while others can be huge. When you start to seal up a building, you start with the largest hole, then move on to the next largest and so on. For this presentation, Laverne Dalgleish with the Air Barrier Association of America (ABAA) will look at the largest typical hole on the building - the roof wall connection, and provide recommendations on how to address this area of air leakage. 

Laverne has been in constructed related businesses for over 30 years. He currently focuses on site quality assurance programs, training development, and personnel certification. Laverne is currently the Executive Director of the Air Barrier Association of America (ABAA). He chairs the the ULC S700 standards committee on thermal insulation, the ISO TC163 SC03 Committee on Thermal Insulation Products, Materials, and Systems, the CSA sub-committee on thermal bridging, and the standing committee on Energy Efficiency (SCEE) Building Envelope Task Group for the National Energy Codes for Buildings. He is a member of the Part 9 Committee of the National Building Code. Laverne has presented across Canada, the United States, and several other countries. He has authored numerous papers and articles focusing on the building envelope.
