BPS in Washington and Beyond
This presentation will review the upcoming City of Seattle BEPS and how other cities/states are enacting the BPS laws. Michael will explain how this climate change-driven law will affect multi-family and commercial building owners with their reserve studies/Capital Expenditure Plans, and budgets. Michael will also share examples, items to consider as Existing Building work is planned, and how some will trigger Substantial Alterations.
Michael Arndt is a Senior Project Consultant for RDH Building Science Inc. Michael has been working in construction since his youth and has been a consultant in the construction field for more than 15 years. His focus is on existing buildings and how to make them more resilient. He is the lead for RDH on the Clean Buildings Performance Standard and is involved in whole-building analysis, failure analysis of building components, building assessments, and is a Certified Infrared Thermographer. He manages renovation projects in Washington State from light houses, historic sites, towers, multifamily and single family homes.
